A New Jersey police officer housed a 14-week-old pit bull he and his colleagues rescued earlier this month.
Officer Matthew O’Hanlon of the local Mount Laurel department told “Good Morning America” that he received the puppy after he and his colleagues found him wandering the Mount Laurel industrial area on January 2nd.
O’Hanlon named the puppy Thor.
O’Hanlon said Thor had no identification and a wound on his head.. He was sent to the Burlington County Animal Shelter in Westampton for treatment.
O’Hanlon picked up Thor and took him to the vet where the tooth of another animal was far from his head. He has since recovered and is doing well with his new family
O’Hanlon said he wants to get rid of the stigma surrounding pit bulls being aggressive dogs.
“They are the kindest, sweetest dogs I’ve ever had … [it’s sad] to find that they have a bad reputation when that’s really the way they were raised.”
“And adopt don’t shop,” he added.
