Shelter Dog Helps Rescue Trapped Kittens

Cats and dogs have a reputation of not getting along. For some reason, they were meant to fight and not really like each other, but this sweet pupper proves otherwise.

Harvey, a loving mutt, was surrendered to Faithful Friends Animal Society because his owners were separating and could no longer care for him. He waited patiently everyday since for someone to adopt him. Since no one came forward in four years, Harvey decided to prove to the world that he is a good boy and hero!

Harvey was out for his daily walk with one of the shelter’s dog handlers, when suddenly he started barking to a strom rain. They decided to go closer and see what was going on. They spotted some trapped little kittens. They immediately informed the shelter’s cat department but when they arrived, they realized that there was one more little kitten left trapped.

The shelter posted the story on Facebook stating, “With constant check-ins, the team was finally triumphant. Two weeks after the first kitten had been found, we were able to find two more and rescue them as well!”

The three ginger kittens were named Beta, Brie, and Brewster. Harvey’s insticts kicked in just in the nick of time because it continued raining for several days and this would be very dangerous for the sweet kittens. However now they are all safe and going to be up for adoption.

Unfortunately Harvey is still looking for his forever home. This good boy loves to play ball and just needs someone who will give him time to adapt to his new family. The shelter has cared for the sweet boy in their Faithful Friends Sanctuary Care Program. A program that provides a place for animals who are harder to adopt due to terminal illness, medical condition, or behavior challenges.

“He would make a great agility dog, running or hiking partner. Harvey would also enjoy cuddling on the couch watching TV. While he has dog friends his size at the shelter, Harvey would be best as the only pet,” states the shelter. How could anyone resist his adorable smile?!

We wish that someone will see beyond Harvey’s apperance and see through his heart of gold.

A single rescue pet will need 100 meals on average while housed at a shelter awaiting adoption into their forever home. National Feed a Rescue Pet Week is aimed at drawing attention to shelter needs during this critical time, and support from animal allies around the world. GreaterGood is stepping up to the challenge with the goal providing 4 million meals for homeless pets, but we can’t do it without your help!
