Roadie has come a long way from being abandoned and tethered to a tree in Indiana, according to ilovemydogsomuch.

Roadie was wearing a plastic bottle with a message from her owner expressing that she needed a nice home with lots of affection. Her owner stated that COVID-19 caused him to lose his house and job, and that he had no option but to give her up.

Roadie did in fact find a loving home and has also since been given a very special job!

When White River Township Fire Chief Jeremy Pell first saw her, her soulful eyes took him off guard.

He’d been seeking for a new Search and Rescue K9 for his department and thought that the two-year-old Shepherd mix would be ideal.

Chief Pell adopted her from the Johnson County Animal Shelter and christened her “Rosie.”

Rosie has now been given a second opportunity at life and a career that benefits others.

She is now being trained as a Search and Rescue dog for both the White River Township Fire Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.

Rosie, according to Chief Pell, is exceptionally intelligent and has a demeanor that is ideal for a Search and Rescue dog.

She isn’t energetic or quiet, and a great balance like Rosie’s is exactly what a SAR dog need.

When Rosie has finished her training for the day, she returns home with Chief Pell, where she is cherished and spoiled.
