Bosco, a Beagle-mix, went missing from his home in Westerley, Rhode Island, when he was 9 years old. The daring dog had apparently slipped out of his collar to explore the area, but he had finally failed to find his way back home. ilovemydogsomuch writes
Dad Bill Ballato, who has a back condition, spent months searching for Bosco through missing posters and personal inquiries, but the beautiful puppy was nowhere to be found. When Bill was forced to relocate to Lafayette, Colorado, he worried that he would never see his dog again.
Over two years had gone since Bosco went missing, when some Rhode Island neighbors recognized the dog from missing posters. Bosco was living on the streets, but he was terrified of humans.
Locals alerted Sheilah Graham, a Department of Homeland Security employee who frequently volunteers as a “pet detective” to locate missing dogs. Sheilah called Bill to learn more about Bosco. She soon succeeded in capturing Bosco using a trap stocked with a variety of his favorite meals!
Bill’s infirmity made it difficult for him to come and fetch Bosco, Sheilah knew. Because a senior dog like Bosco couldn’t fly, she gladly agreed to travel 2000 miles in 36 hours to deliver Bosco to Bill and reunite them! During the self-funded journey, the kind woman drove through two snowstorms while caring for Bosco.
But when the senior dog finally saw Bill after 764 days, he froze in confusion. The poor dad feared that his old buddy won’t recognize him anymore. But when Bill mustered up the courage and called out “Dude”, Bosco finally realized that he is back in the arms of his dear dad!
Bosco was overjoyed to see his old toys and doggy sibling! We’d want to express our gratitude to Sheilah, who worked tirelessly to make this reunion a reality! This is one of the sweetest reunions we’ve ever witnessed!
