This is the emotional moment, a poor stray dog can’t hold back her tears when realizes people can also be kind. The dog – heavy pregnant – was wandering the streets in search for some food, when she spotted a couple enjoying their lunch on the side of the road. The stray pittie only hoped for some leftovers, but instead she got adopted, and the moment was too much to handle for her.
While they were buying food from a stand on the street, Jacks Anderson and his wife spotted the pit bull mix!
“She never took her eyes off of us, but she didn’t come close or beg for food,” Anderson explained to The Dodo. “The owners of the stand came out and shooed her away down the sidewalk. It was obvious she was scared, and she disappeared.”
It was when the couple were on their way back home, when they realized the dog is pregnant. So they pulled over and offered her something to eat. But Anderson’s wife felt so pity for the helpless dog, and she even tried to pet her and to offer food from her hand, hoping she’ll gain her trust this way.
However, they both knew that they could not just leave her there, so they decided to take the dog in their car. The moment she realized she was safe and that the stranger was comforting her, the dog got so emotional that she even began to cry. The heartwarming scene was caught on video by Anderson!
“We just kind of paused at that moment to allow Poppy (how they eventually named the dog) to calm a bit, but honestly, she was far more calm than I anticipated,” the man said. “I started to record the video of my wife comforting her, and I realized that Poppy had tears coming from her eyes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in a dog, and it definitely made an impact.”
The two very nice people then took the dog to the veterinarian. The dog was in excellent health, despite having fleas. Anderson and his wife made the decision to foster Poppy until they could find her an adoptive home. The days they spent with Poppy were enough for them to completely fall in love with her and keep her.
“Poppy is the kind of dog who loves to be loved,” Anderson said. “Poppy will stay with us. We’re learning more about her all the time and building trust with he. We’re basically massive foster failures, but there are worse things in life to be!”
