Before showing up at the Harris County Animal Shelter, Karma was an abandoned and lonely stray who had been wandering the streets. The 12-year-old Shih Tzu’s hair was so matted that it made her appear larger than life. After Friends of Faye left, Karma had a haircut, and it was amazing to see how she changed from a timid, trembling stray to a self-assured beauty queen.
The Dodo was told by Andi Lene, karma’s foster mother through Friends of Faye, “I suppose she literally was never groomed, ever.” We weren’t sure what condition her eyes would be in after being shaved because she was so matted. She is still somewhat skin-sensitive as a result of it.
Since receiving her much-needed grooming lotion, Karma has begun to emerge from her shell. She is no longer a straggler without a family to look after her.
Leone described the youngster as “a wonderful, feisty little girl.” She enjoys spending peaceful time in her kennel by “laying fetch and cuddling you. She has a wonderful, laid-back attitude and she adores kids utterly.
Now that Karma has a hairstyle that complements her sulky personality, anybody can gaze into those large, puppy-dog eyes and instantly melt, just like Leone did.
She gets along with everyone and is a nice, easy-going child, according to Leone. She is still very much a young lady, though.
Karma is now prepared to begin her search for her permanent home, but her foster mother is certain that the ideal match will materialize soon.
She gets along with the other 11 dogs we have in our house, and she adores our 8-year-old, according to Leone. She loves children, sweets, and noisy toys. She has been a true joy.
