We all know that the German Shepherd is a loyal, tenacious watchdog that is willing to give up all for its owner.
Sarge first appears to be just like that, but due to his owner’s propensity for animal rescue, he has evolved into a really kind and sensuous dog. He cares for those that are in need.
In Ohio, Cheryl and her dog Sarge keep animals on a tiny “farm” but not for human consumption. The woman remembers frequently bringing home wounded animals as a young child. Now that she has two kids, she has also been able to inculcate a love of nature in them.
Sarge was brought home by us nine years ago. We have never owned a purebred dog before, only him. The remainder are “mutts,” which in my opinion are the greatest breed of dog! Sheryl declares.
“The majority of them were abandoned or just given to us by someone who could no longer care for them. They get along and are all wonderful.
Shepherd was not always so kind and gentle.
“Sarge was a vicious pup and loved to bite his feet and stalk his kids’ friends around the house playing ‘Police Dog’.” But his character changed dramatically six years ago when the woman brought home a wounded deer. He became a real guard and nanny for the baby.
