A callous individual abandoned a mother dog and her young puppies on the side of a dusty road in Atascosa County, Texas. These newborn puppies would not have survived long if they had been left outside on that chilly day.

Fortunately, they were discovered in time, and Atascosa County Animal Control was contacted for assistance. The family was immediately picked up by officers and taken back to their clinic so they could receive medical attention.

Eyedrops were required to treat a minor infection in the mother dog’s eye. She and her babies were then placed to sleep in a comfortable kennel with plush blankets. A rescue organization that collaborates with ACACA, Puppy Pleasers, came up to provide assistance and took the mother and her babies in. As soon as the pups were mature enough to quit devouring their mother, they pledged to keep the family together. Additionally, they will continue to treat the mother’s eye infection. All of the puppies will be adopted into loving homes where they will remain for the rest of their lives once they are old enough and their mother is completely recovered.

Since then, ACAC has launched a criminal investigation to determine who abandoned these helpless pets. The accused is accused with the offense of Animal Cruelty by Abandonment.
