The dog was tied to a rock by the owner and thrown into the river, fortunately he was saved in time

Bella is a sweet German shepherd puppy who was abandoned by her old home and came perilously near to dying in the River Trent at Long Lane in Farndon, England, in January of last year. The puppy was found clinging to a rock soaked in water, afraid and helpless. Bella spent several hours fighting for her life.

Thank goodness, two nearby female dog walkers named Jane Harper and Joanne Bellamy were able to hear the dog’s calls for assistance.

After being saved, Bella was taken right away to a vet for emergency care. Once they were able to stabilize her, she was then sent to the RSPCA rescue center.

With a boulder around her neck and some icy water, Bella managed to survive, but the urgent trip to the doctor also showed that she had a few more health issues to deal with. The path to his rehabilitation was just beginning.

Bella was looked for by the Radcliffe Animal Center staff in Nottingham. The person responsible for the horrible atrocities that the little girl had to endure was wanted by the police as well as by charities.

Charlene Latham, 32, was given a 12-month community term last month after pleading guilty to causing her cat unnecessary distress.

Current Devon resident Charlene said in court that she begged her ex-partner Leigh Johnson, 33, not to hurt the dog. Johnson, who also denied the allegations, never requested help, and the RSPCA felt there wasn’t enough evidence to press charges against him.

The woman was fined £80 by Nottingham Magistrates Court and additionally ordered to pay the victim £200 in fees and other costs. She was also barred from having pets for three years.

During her 15 months in the RSPCA’s care, the gorgeous dog made a full recovery and was able to find a forever home. Bella’s new parents are retired couple Maggie Mellish and Charlie Douglas, who give Bella all the love she need.

They live in a nice neighborhood in South Derbyshire and are the perfect match for Bella, who is 11 years old. They have had other dogs before, so they are willing to give her the attention she so richly deserves.
