A puppy appeared in our yard on a rainy day last April, soaked through and trembling from the cold. The puppy was left in a cardboard box out in the yard.

As my daughter and grandson visited me, a 4-month-old baby and an unfamiliar dog weren’t in the best neighborhood. I felt sorry for the baby, but all I could do was feed it. An elderly neighbor took the dog and provided her with a warm place in the barn.

With the help of a neighbor, we agreed that we would keep the puppy for one week before taking it to a shelter along the way.

I came for a puppy a week later, but Nikolai Yuryevich refused to give it up. As a result, a lonely pensioner decided to keep the animal for himself. This turned out to be a good outcome. Our neighbor has a good friend, and the puppy has a home.

Soon after meeting the dog, Nikolai Yurievich named him Dick, and in his neighboring yard, a strong puppy kennel was built that could accommodate some adult dogs. Dick reciprocated his master’s love for him with selfless devotion. As the pensioner walked with the dog and went to the store, Dick would sit on the porch and wait for him after he finished shopping, he had not seen his loved one for a long time.
