The proverb states that a man’s best friend is his dog. But what if a dog is left behind and doesn’t have any relatives, friends, or a place to call home? Many of them scour the streets for food and lodging in the hopes of finding a family. Up until that momentous day that completely altered his life, Max, a stray dog, lived in this manner.

Max has been living on the streets for months without a caregiver. He was in desperate need of a home since he was underweight and frail. Despite his challenges, Max maintained his upbeat disposition and gregarious temperament, regularly wagging his tail and seeking out new acquaintances.

A group of rescuers from a neighboring animal shelter came across Max one day. They were looking for strays they could adopt and care for when they realized Max needed help. He was brought back to the shelter where he was given a bed, food, and drink.

Max’s rescuers wanted to treat him differently to make up for the years he had gone without it living on the streets. For his birthday, they made the decision to throw him a party with cake, treats, and activities.

He couldn’t believe his extraordinary luck. He was delighted to see all the sweets and toys waiting for him because he had never attended a birthday party before. The rescuers watched in tears as he ran about the shelter wagging his tail and barking with joy.
