Even the most seasoned animal rescuers can be left utterly shocked by certain distressing scenes. The Street Hearts crew encountered one such gut-wrenching situation when they received a disturbing call about a trapped dog.

Little did they know, the story went far deeper than a single dog in peril. The dog, named Angel, was not alone in her plight – and she certainly never chose to end up in such a hopeless predicament.

The Street Hearts team responded to a call to rescue a stranded mother dog with her newborn puppies

The Street Hearts team received an urgent call from a local woman who had been feeding Angel. She reported that the loyal mother dog, along with her newborn puppies, were trapped in a nearby pit. Stunned by this horrific news, the rescuers rushed to the scene immediately.

It turned out to be the same dog they had been trying to save for the past six months, now facing a fight for survival in an inescapable trap. But this time, Angel was not alone. Alongside her were eight of her own puppies, born just a month prior in a crumbling, abandoned building. Two more orphaned pups were also trapped with them.

The team had no evidence, but it was painfully clear that someone had cruelly discarded the helpless animals into the pit, leaving them to an uncertain fate. “We have no idea how they ended up in that pit. We would hazard a guess that somebody probably threw them down there,” said Anthony, a member of the Street Hearts crew.

Sparing no time, the rescuers immediately pulled the dogs from the pit and transported them to a safe, cozy shelter – far from the perilous uncertainty they had just endured.

A quick rescue and journey of healing begins for Angel’s family

At the shelter, Angel and her eight puppies (Dasher, Prancer, Dancer, Cupid, Rudolph, Comet, Vixen, and Blitzen), along with the orphaned pups Immy and Mr. Mushroom, found refuge with the kind-hearted caregivers. However, Angel was still deeply traumatized by the neglect and abuse she had suffered.

It took days for the shy, timid dog to warm up and allow the rescuers to approach her without her hiding away. But the Street Hearts team never gave up, determined to give Angel a fresh start in life. With unwavering compassion and affection, they worked tirelessly to help Angel make significant progress.

As Angel began to heal, her puppies thrived as well. The team posted an update video a month after the rescue, showcasing Angel’s remarkable road to recovery. “She still has a very long way to go before she is able to be adopted but we are enjoying being on this journey with her,” the caregivers wrote.

A final safe haven for Angel’s family

Through the love and support of her rescuers, Angel finally overcame her past trauma. She emerged from her shell, joyfully playing with other dogs and embracing her new role as both a mother and a sibling to the many pups in the shelter.

The Street Hearts team shared another uplifting update on Angel’s transformation. “Angel is blooming! Each passing day brings out newfound confidence, revealing her playful and kind nature. It’s wonderful to witness her transformation,” they wrote.

After enduring such hardships, Angel and her puppies are now on the right track, eagerly awaiting their chance at a forever home. With her pups ready for adoption, Angel is confident that the perfect family will soon come knocking, ready to welcome her into their lives. She has proven her resilience and is more than ready for the next chapter of her journey.
