Revealing The Reason Why The Scared Dog Hid In The Bathroom For Days In His New Foster Home

Nyx’s story is a heartbreaking yet uplifting tale of resilience and the transformative power of love. This shy, fearful pup spent most of her life isolated on a property with 22 other dogs, waiting to be rescued. When that day finally came and Nyx was brought to her new foster home, she immediately retreated to the safety of the bathroom, refusing to come out.

The reason Nyx dog refused all attention from his new foster home

For the first 2-3 days, Nyx would not interact with her new caretaker, Rachel, at all. She wouldn’t eat or leave her bathroom hideaway, paralyzed by fear of the unfamiliar environment. Rachel patiently tried coaxing her with treats and calm, affectionate words, but Nyx remained steadfast in her hiding spot.

It wasn’t until the 9th day that Nyx finally inched out to cautiously take a snack from Rachel. This small victory gave Rachel hope that Nyx’s trust could be gradually earned. But the biggest surprise was yet to come.

While Nyx remained elusive, Rachel noticed her belly was unusually large, despite her poor appetite. Upon taking her to the vet, the shocking discovery was made – Nyx was pregnant, carrying a litter of 8 puppies!

Realizing Nyx would need a stable, nurturing environment to give birth and care for her babies, Rachel’s friend Bobbi stepped up to foster the expectant mama. Under Bobbi’s care, Nyx slowly emerged from her shell, going from a pup that shied away from all touch to one who now adores cuddling and having stories read to her by Bobbi’s young daughters.

Tragically, 5 of Nyx’s 8 puppies did not survive due to a severe case of hookworm. But the 3 that did make it have all found loving forever homes. As for Nyx, while she still has a long way to go in fully overcoming her fears, her caretakers are hopeful that with continued patience and care, she will eventually blossom into the loving, confident companion she was always meant to be.

Nyx’s journey is a powerful testament to the resilience of the canine spirit and the transformative impact of rescue. From a life of isolation and hardship to the safety and warmth of a nurturing foster home, this special pup is learning to trust again and embracing the joys of companionship. Her story reminds us that with time, understanding, and unconditional love, even the most fearful of dogs can find the courage to open their hearts.
