Justin Rollins was a 22-year-old soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers. When he was stationed in Samarra, Iraq, he found some stray dogs and tried to take care of them as much as he could by feeding them and giving them water. He was also sending pictures of the pups to his family, but one lovely pup cought Justin’s eye.

Sadly, something very bad happened, when Rollins was killed unexpectedly by a roadside bomb, leaving his family to mourn his loss. One day before the accident, Justin took again some pictures with the dogs and these images were sent to his mother.

After Justin’s death his mother left no stone unturned to find her son’s favourite dog. And finally it happened! She managed to find the pup, bring him in USA and adopt him, after all this was the last living thing that Justin had touched before he was killed. This dog has a big meaning for her, she thinks that through the pooch she has a connection with her beloved son. They named the dog, Hero.

One cloudy day, a news crew was at the Rollins residence filming an interview with them. But then something happened that sent chills down everyone’s spines. In a photo of Hero, a ray of light shone down on him. The beautiful multicolored ray looked like something straight from the heavens themselves.The family believes this was a sign from their son, letting them know that he’s watching over Hero and his family. What a great way to send a message to your grieving family!

Hero will surely be loved till the end by his foster family! Rest In Peace Justin!
