World’s Oldest Dog, Maggie, Has A Last Sleep …

No doubt she led a very long, happy life…

Anyone who loves dogs would agree that the lifespan of dogs is too short. The average lifespan of a dog is between 10 and 15 years – and that just isn’t enough time to be with our best friends.

Dog owners who are able to keep their precious pets longer than average know how happy they are!

Maggie, an Australian Kelpie and probably the world’s oldest dog, punctuated her record recently, as she peacefully laid down in her basket for the last time and passed away…

Maggie’s owner, Brian, claims that the cute dog was 30 when she died peacefully in 2015. However, he has no official documentation to substantiate his claim.

The dog that previously kept the record passed away back in 1939, and lived to the age of 29.

Regardless of her record title, Maggie lived a beautiful, long life, and her family paid tribute to her.

Maggie lived on the farm with her family and saved energy until the last days. She continued to walk to the local office and made sure to stop in time to growl at any suspicious local cats she met along the way. You know, important things.

She was happiest when she spent time with her favorite people.

Her human dad is, of course, saddened by the loss of his faithful companion, but he is pleased that she passed away peacefully. Brian knew that her time on earth was coming to an end, and had made peace with the fact that she would leave them.

The longevity of Maggie’s life was something to be appreciated, not mourned. And it’s hard to be sad about the death of a pet who lived such a loving, robust life.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last time we hear a story like this — especially as we learn more about the best ways to care for our pets. Perhaps one of the people reading this will have a pet that is able to beat Maggie’s record one day!
