This is not the only animal rescue that has occurred during the devastation of Hurricane Florence. Volunteer heroes rescued six dogs found abandoned in a locked cage in North Carolina, where they nearly drowned in the fast-growing flood waters of Hurricane Florence.

The dogs were rescued from a property in Leland, North Carolina where their owners left them while fleeing the hurricane. They almost drowned in the rising flood waters before rescuers reached them. After the chain link fence was unlocked, the dogs emerged whimpering, howling and scared.

The emotional video, which has already garnered more than 1.3 million views, shows dogs barking and standing on their hind legs as they see volunteer rescuer Ryan Nichols of Longview, Texas, treading in water up to his knees toward the creatures.

In North Carolina, flood waters reached a height of four meters on Sunday, while continuing to rise steadily. According to accuweather.com, floods near the Yadkin River in Jonesville are projected to rise to 26.6 feet. We pray for the safety of their property.
