Since he was a puppy, Marco had been detested by his master, a former hunter. He brought Marco to the backyard and tied him to a lonely tree, according to ilovemydogsomuch, since he believed Marco was “useless.”

For five years, the guy fed the dog bread and leftovers. Marco craved human interaction and affection, but no one in the remote village was aware of his predicament.

As soon as rescuers arrived, Marco’s piercing eyes, craving for affection, overpowered them. Unfortunately, the dog’s disease was quickly spreading across his face. The treatment for severe leishmaniasis is soul-crushing, but Marco’s rescuers told him that he would recover. They took him away from his owner and rushed him to the veterinary.

Although seeing Marco’s grueling treatment in this video is heartbreaking, the rescuers were heartened to see him eventually recover. It’s infuriating to think how easily his misery could have been avoided if his owner had merely provided him with basic care. We are quite proud of Marco for enduring this awful therapy for 5 months!

The most touching part of this film is when the healed Marco sees his new family for the first time! He has a lovely home and a large flowery field to himself, and he intends to spend the rest of his life being spoiled by his adoring parents. Marco, you’ve done a fantastic job!
