For one particular stray dubbed “New Boy,” he appeared to be just like any other animal in distress. He was emaciated, famished, and in desperate need of a bath.

They had no idea how remarkable New Boy was when he was taken up by a local Los Angeles shelter. Although all dogs are unique, New Boy was unlike any other canine the shelter staff had encountered.

As New Boy was being placed in a cage and checked, an experienced shelter worker recognized something was off about this “dog.” After that, the shelter worker called to have New Boy inspected, and her fears were verified. New Boy was a cross between a wolf and a dog!

This understanding posed a significant difficulty. He was unable to be cared for in the shelter due to a lack of resources. They couldn’t keep New Boy since it was against the law, so he’d be killed if he didn’t find a new home.
