A lot of dogs are adopted when they are pups, they become a part of the family, they grow with them, but when they reach an old age, they do not appear to get the care they require. ilovemydogsomuch writes
Lindsy, an adorable puppy, was transported to the Babylon Animal Shelter in New York after being discovered by animal control authorities.
After being accepted, the shelter was astonished to get a phone call from a girl claiming to be from Lindsy’s adoptive family, saying that they had not abandoned her but that she had run away from their house, and that as soon as her father arrived, they would be there to take Lindsy up.
The staff were confident that someone would show up and take the poor dog home, but after a while it became clear that the family had abandoned Lindsy because she was getting older, and older dogs usually require more care and attention, so people abandon them on the streets after having them as family members for many years.
Staff says Lindsy has a great bubbly personality , she loves when she is surrounded with people and they were sure it won’t be hard to find her a forever home, but things didn’t go as well for the poor dog, and she was still at the shelter after two long years.
Lindsey is now a senior dog, and seniors often have difficulty finding new homes since people prefer to adopt puppies or younger dogs.
Every dog needs a loving family; please consider adopting elderly pets as well.
