When a truck driver was on his way through Minnesota on a night when the temperature dropped below zero, he encountered a terrifying discovery. He saw a dumpster on fire with a tiny puppy at the bottom, says ilovemydogsomuch.
Clayton Van Wert didn’t think twice about grabbing the terrified, sobbing puppy from the flames, despite the fact that he was burning his hands. He then took the dog to a rescue shelter, where Phoenix was immediately placed in emergency care.
Phoenix had just been rescued from a dumpster fire when this photo was taken.
The veterinarians shaved his fur to assess the extent of his skin injury.
It turns out the puppy had been doused in an accelerant therefore proving that the incident was intentional.
Phoenix had been abandoned, famished, and set ablaze. He weighed nearly half as much as he should have.
The most serious burns were on his knees and paws. Phoenix was given painkillers as well as a slew of bandages.
Phoenix was sent to the doctors for skin grafting after the vets had trouble keeping the wounds closed.
After living a nightmare, Phoenix could finally relax a little bit.
Phoenix is looking a lot better now! It would be a long trek back to health…
Phoenix, on the other hand, would be showered with all the love and attention he needed to get through it!
