When Lawson was hit by a car and rendered unable to use his back legs, he was a street dog on the outskirts of Istanbul. The one-year-old dog was forced to drag himself across the street in search of food, starving himself and further damaging his paralyzed rear legs.
He’art of Rescue felt they could not abandon such a brave dog to such a dreadful fate when they first met Lawson. Because they are typically the most unfortunate and mistreated strays in Turkey, the rescue organization gives priority to the rescue of sick and handicapped strays. He had to drag himself down the ground for such a long time that his legs are cut and scabbed. His body is a living testament to his survival struggles.
Even though Lawson’s spine cannot be repaired, he is still relearning how to walk while using a wheelchair.
He’s definitely happy now than when he initially came. Look at that grin he has on his face. Most likely because he is aware that he is in caring and skilled hands!
