In Redhill, Surrey, a good samaritan discovered a litter of four abandoned Cocker Spaniel puppies left to waste in an alley.

The litter was quite ill due to serious illnesses and had uneven skin and crusty eyes. The staff at Chobham’s Millbrook Animal Centre took them in.

The puppies, with the names Mike, El, Lucas, and Dustin, recovered amazingly after receiving complex treatment for months. Perfect happy endings for Mike, El, and Lucas, who were adopted by wonderful families, soon followed. Dustin, though, continued to wait for his special moment in the sun.

Dustin, in contrast to his well-mannered siblings, wasn’t really suited for a secure and protected home life. He had the spirit of an adventurer, and potential adopters couldn’t handle his zeal. No one was prepared to meet his incessant demand for stimulation, despite the fact that he adored puzzles and games.

After transforming the ailing Dustin into a handsome child, the staff was dismayed to learn of his lack of interest from adoptive parents. The staff at the dog shelter saw that the intrepid canine was becoming bored and began concealing his tennis balls in unusual ways to keep him occupied. For Dustin, this activity was a major game-changer!

Due of Dustin’s incredible sniffer and search skills, the employees got in touch with the local police to suggest Dustin as a potential recruit. Within a few days, everything fell into place without a hitch, and Dustin joined the Surrey and Sussex Dog Unit!

Alongside Officer Steph Barrett, Dustin (now Badger) is actively searching for narcotics, cash, and weapons for the police. Dustin has gone a long way in the first 20 months of his existence, from being abandoned to die on the streets, to facing rejection, to discovering his real calling. He has our utmost admiration, and we wish him well.
