How emotionally intelligent dogs can be is amazing. They could form sincere romantic relationships with both people and other animals… They appear to comprehend when a loved one passes away.

Like people, dogs may experience their own grieving process. That was the case with one dog who, after his companions passed away, demonstrated his loyalty by going to their graves each day.

In Mineral Bluff, Georgia, at the Horse Creek Stable Rescue Sanctuary, there lives Tricycle, a three-legged golden retriever rescue.

Tricycle has always had access to enough different creatures while residing at the farm refuge to form friendships. The group accepts special needs animals including dogs, llamas, and alpacas.

One of the first animals he developed a bond with was Major, a St. Bernard/mastiff mix.

In 2016, Major passed away, and Tricycle appeared to be grieving.

Like all the other animal rescues who passed away, Major was buried on the farm and given a headstone for the cemetery. After burying him, however, the rescuers made a surprising discovery: Tricycle would stay at the grave, lamenting his old friend:

He persisted in coming for almost three days, and his owners realized he was in trouble.

Lester Aradi, the sanctuary’s proprietor, told People that “there is a feeling of loss that we all need to cope through, like many of us.” “Animals suffer loss, just like people do.”

Tricycle has been seen grieving for all the creatures that have perished, showing that there was more to his connection than just Major.

The dog was discovered next to the burial of the recently deceased alpaca, Trixie.

It’s a touching tale about how genuine animal love can be and how dogs, just like humans, can experience complicated emotions.
