When a dog is properly trained, it can accomplish almost anything. When her owners aren’t available to take her outdoors, this clever golden retriever understands how to relieve herself. She is the greatest house trained dog around, leaving no messes. The only thing she can’t do is flush the toilet.

While many dogs are caught drinking from the toilet bowl, Tokyo stands on her front paws and utilizes it as intended. “I taught her when she was little,” Alejandro Rodriguez Corrales, 29, explained. “She’s my girlfriend’s dog, but I enjoy teaching her new things.”

Alejandro, a civil engineer in Alajuela, Costa Rica, explained how he taught Tokyo to use the restroom. “At first, I’d raise her up on the toilet and give her cookies when she went,” he explained. It was a difficult and lengthy procedure, but I was patient.”

He admitted that teaching Tokyo how to use the toilet was challenging, but he remained undeterred. He would first allow the dog to pee there but not Tokyo to dump since it would be too difficult. Tokyo can now completely prop herself up on her front paws and use the toilet.

Alejandro added that, Tokyo is very clean, she never leaves a mess in the bathroom. The only thing the dog doesn’t know how to do is flush. Tokyo is such a smart dog!
