Roxy and Toulouse, two-year-old siblings, were born without left eyes due to a bacterial infection during gestation.

Fanny Sannier, 19, is from Belgium, and adopted both puppies as an early Christmas gift in 2019. The puppies were considered imperfect and couldn’t be sold, so they were destined to be euthanised – but the Belgian adoption was all too happy.

Now boujee duo, Nouga, the Border Collie, and Caramel, the family cat, live a boujee lifestyle, playing in the rain and destroying stuffed animals. At two months old, their eyes were sewn shut due to a bacterial infection, but we do not know much about the cause of their death.

‘It went without complication, and now they’re just like any other dogs and are both very spoiled.’

It was a natural decision for Fanny to adopt the pups as soon as she found out they may be killed.

She says: ‘We were devastated when we found out they might be killed.

‘They were adorable puppies, and I couldn’t see why they wanted to put them down.

‘A missing eye means an “imperfect” puppy, and an expensive surgery. A lot of people don’t seem to want to waste their money on such dogs.

Our adoption of them was a great decision. It is so wonderful to have them by my side, and I hope that I will keep them aslong as possible.

The two of them are like small fluffy balls of love, and I would be lost without them.’ According to my sister, if we hadn’t rescued them, I would have had a sad heart.’

They now love playing and cooling off in the family’s garden pond, but Fanny says people are still shocked when she tells them their story.

According to her, the reaction is always the same, people are shocked to learn that these dogs were euthanized, since they can see how full of life they are.

‘A lot of people agree that they would have adopted Roxy and Tolouse too.

‘They bring joy to our home, my whole family loves them.

We love them even more because of their uniqueness.
