Philadelphia police discovered a paralyzed dog fighting for its life in the middle of the tracks.
The dog’s whereabouts remain unknown, however Philly Rescue Angels, INC, a Pennsylvania group that caters for stray animals, speculated that the dog may have been thrown nearby after seeing a collar and leash close by.
The pit bull mix survived the two-day ordeal and was given the name Lucky by the group. On Nov. 29, Lucky was discovered and sent to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine for treatment.
The group said on Facebook, “Someone has literally dumped this poor dog on the train tracks. He has been lying here for TWO DAYS, literally laying his body down and the train has been going over him.” “This is pure evil, and we are heartbroken!”
His spinal cord was cut, and doctors believe the train collision is what caused the damage. The charity stated that the dog would regrettably never be able to walk again.
Since then, according to the organization’s web posting, Lucky has undergone extensive surgery and received two plates to help mend his spinal damage. He received injectable pain medication on Monday and then had his first therapy session.

After nearly $18,000 in vet care, Lucky is on the road to recovery but he may never walk again, leading the organization to fundraise for his future medical care and therapy.
On Tuesday, doctors said Lucky is “doing great,” according to the organization. “He loves his harness and being able to get up and move around.”
It’s a long way for a dog that spent two days lying on the train tracks before being rescued.
