When the pandemic hit and the world seemed a little gloomy, one family in Texas decided it was time to bring some much-needed fun and excitement into their lives.
Mariano and Esmeralda Rendon, like many others, found themselves searching for creative ways to have a blast right in their own backyard.
The three German dogs owned by Mariano and Esmerelda Rendon, Abram, Bradley, and Kim, now enjoy the nicest backyard play area possible.
In Shavano Park, Texas, the couple’s garden has nearly 1,000 feet of toy train tracks. Mariano has a love for trains and started documenting his creation in images and films in 2018.
He has had extra time thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak to modernize and extend his train, which he calls Salsa Tracks. In recognition of the cause Mariano has had so much additional time to dedicate to his passion, a new stretch is named Corona Pass.
The rideable train is a favorite with the Rendons’ youngsters, but lately, their three German shepherd puppies—two boys and a girl—have been the most frequent visitors. The three puppies were given to Mariano and Esmerelda at the start of the epidemic.
The three German shepherds are the main attraction of any posts. Mariano regularly posts Salsa Tracks updates to the Backyard Railroading Facebook group
The dogs enjoy riding on the flatbed cars on Mariano’s railways. Abram, Bradley, and Kim join the train as Mariano begins it to move, and they have even been known to doze off while it is moving. The dogs’ heads bob from side to side when the train round the Rendons’ yard, if sleep time is not in progress.
