A Barn Find Expert Discovers an Astounding Twin-Turbo 1959 Chevrolet Truck at a Florida Gas Station

After Sean looks at this custom-built mill, he asks Bull if he races at Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory nearby. Bull thinks that he might, someday. Mainly, though, the Apache is a play toy that’s built for doing donuts.

Bull’s sense of fun comes across in countless other details. He’s bracketed a parking sign from a now-defunct college to the truck bed. A plaque painted in Asian lettering bolted to the rear driveshaft is a good luck charm so he doesn’t blow out the rear end. Wood-grain vinyl from a golf cart lines the truck’s door panels, and the seats come from a 1979 Fox body Ford Mustang. He’s flipped the bumpers and let his son and the neighbor kids sand them and paint them.

It’s clear that Bull draws inspiration from everywhere in this build, from classic cars to quirky pop culture. Even though he currently has the truck up for the sale, he still talks about putting big carbon fiber scoops behind the doors and installing Dodge Challenger-like halo headlights. Some lucky buyer, though, will get a cool-looking Chevy Apache that also reflects its builder’s interesting take on life
