Revealing The Reason This 7.7-Liter Cadillac De Ville Convertible Is A Diamond In The Rough

Heart Of Texas Barn Finds And Classics on YouTubeHeart Of Texas Barn Finds And Classics on YouTube is back again with exactly what the channel’s name promises, and tucked in the property somewhere in Texas is a panoply of interesting metal among the weeds.

You might need to worry about snakes, but not about identifying many of the cars as most of the barn finds here are in good shape and instantly-recognizable.

There is a collection of idiosyncratic German fare, as well as one big Cadillac legend that deserves to get saved. Let’s see what classic cars are for sale and those that are also awaiting a different sort of fate.

Volkswagen Bus And Volkswagen Beetle Barn Find Heaven

There are lots of classic cars littered around the compound where the host of our video is investigating, and around the back of the house in the garden there is a collection of Volkswagen icons.

These are the ones that are disappearing fast, and values for the Volkswagen Type 2 (the bus) are also rising, as he points out. The Volkswagen Beetles are in various states of repair, most need restoring although only some run – two of them spent decades in barns.

A ’72 Beetle and ’73 Beetle look like great projects, and the latter is a Super Beetle. The 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle is worth an average of $13,000 and came with MacPherson Strut suspension that set it apart from standard models. Volkswagen’s beloved Beetle line ran for decades until it got stopped due to its aging platform and competition from other manufacturers.

Nearby are a couple of 1969 Volkswagen Type 2 Transporters, one of which is a great runner; these are worth around $24,000 at auction on average.

Moving among the weeds and theoretical snakes, the line of classic cars crosses a surprisingly well-kept Cadillac de Ville, from 1969 to 1970, a third-generation de Ville. It presents in burnt orange paint which the barn find YouTuber likes, it is fading but the body doesn’t appear to have gotten covered in rust.

The Cadillac de Ville convertible needs work but looks complete and the suspension is only 400 miles old. This 7.7-liter V8 left the factory with 375 hp, a 3-speed automatic transmission and even has air conditioning.

It could make for an interesting easy restoration at $12,000, or a project car. Cars like this in good condition are worth twice the price at auction, and good models usually with the convertible body style can sell for upwards of $110,000, although that is rare.
