Guy Wasn’t A Fan Of Cats, But This Stray Kitten Didn’t Give Him A Choice

Earlier this month, volunteers from Mini Cat Town took on the care of a tiny orphaned kitten. The little one was found alone, with no mother in sight, and was taken to a nearby shelter. The shelter reached out to the rescue group, and volunteer Toby stepped in to care for the kitten, who was soon named Barberry. For the first few days, Barberry needed to be fed by bottle, and under Toby’s care, she quickly began to feel at home. One person, however, would unexpectedly become her favorite: Connor, the husband of one of the volunteers.

Although Connor had always considered himself more of a dog person, something about Barberry changed everything. The moment the kitten laid eyes on him, Barberry crawled into his arms, curling up comfortably as if she had always belonged there. The small kitten instantly melted his heart, and from that moment on, the two shared a special bond.

“She falls asleep nestled in the curve of his neck, close to his beard,” Toby shared. Barberry didn’t have any siblings, so the couple made sure to surround her with love and attention to help her feel secure and happy.

The Tabby kitten found joy in every opportunity for closeness. Whether it was a lap, shoulder, or neck, Barberry claimed it as her cozy resting spot. She made it her mission to be near Connor at all times, becoming his tiny “bodyguard.” Though small in size, Barberry’s heart was full of love for her foster dad, and she filled their home with endless cuddles and purrs.

Seeing how much Barberry enjoyed companionship, the couple decided she needed a sibling. They soon adopted another shelter kitten—a black-and-white boy named Ralph, who also needed a home. Ralph’s arrival was an instant success. Upon meeting Connor, he greeted him with affectionate kisses, nuzzling his beard in approval.

The two kittens began settling into their foster home, and the couple knew it wouldn’t be long before Barberry and Ralph became inseparable playmates. In the meantime, Barberry continued her daily routine of snuggling with Connor, showering him with affection, and always staying close by his side.

Connor, once a self-proclaimed dog lover, found himself falling asleep with Barberry purring softly in his arms. These rescued kittens, after a tough start to life, were now surrounded by warmth and love. As Barberry grows, she’s becoming more active, and soon, she and Ralph will be ready for new adventures together.

Thanks to their dedicated foster family, both Barberry and Ralph’s lives have been transformed. And with Connor as her favorite human, Barberry couldn’t be happier.
