Unveiling the Marvel: 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus

This 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus hardtop is finished in red with gray lower bodywork over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 318ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black vinyl roof, Magnum 500–style 14″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, front bucket seats, a Slap Stik shifter, a tachometer, air conditioning, and a Bluetooth-capable AM/FM stereo. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in early 2022, and work conducted under previous ownership is said to have included a repaint, fitment of a custom dual exhaust system, and replacement of the wiring harness. This B-body is now offered in New York with partial service records and a clean Texas title.

The car left the factory in Rallye Red (FE5) and is said to have been refinished under previous ownership. Exterior details include gray lower bodywork, a black vinyl roof covering, quad headlights, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers, trim, and mirrors.

Magnum 500–style 14″ wheels are mounted with 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and a black-painted steel spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl, while simulated wood trim accents the dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes air conditioning, a console-mounted Slap Stik shifter, and Sebring Plus–branded rubber floor mats. The factory-style reproduction AM/FM stereo from Vintage Auto Radio is Bluetooth compatible. There is a tear in the passenger seat.

The three-spoke steering wheel features simulated wood trim and fronts a 150-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the selling dealer. The tachometer has a 5,500-rpm redline and is said to have been installed in place of the factory clock.

The 318ci V8 features a two-barrel carburetor and has reportedly been fitted with a replacement wiring harness. Work since 2020 included rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the fuel pump. Output was factory rated at 150 net horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. A custom dual exhaust system has been fitted. The selling dealer notes a leak from the transmission pan.
