Originally residing in California, this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE found its way into the possession of the current seller in 2007. Notable enhancements followed, including the installation of a replacement 440ci V8 engine, equipped with three Holley two-barrel carburetors, along with the addition of a Sanden air-conditioning compressor. Other improvements comprised the replacement of the dash pad, and the incorporation of a Dana 60 limited-slip rear axle featuring 3.54:1 gears.
The car’s striking appearance is defined by its red exterior finish contrasted against black leather upholstery. Additional exterior features include a black vinyl roof cover, as well as hood and side graphics. Functionality meets nostalgia with the inclusion of a four-speed manual transmission, power steering, and power front disc brakes. The vehicle stands adorned with Rallye 15″ wheels, while the interior boasts a wood-trimmed Hurst pistol-grip shifter and an overhead console. Finished from the factory in Bright Red (FE5), the car is said to have been repainted under prior ownership more than 20 years ago. Features include a black vinyl roof covering, a dual scooped hood, hood and side graphics, chrome bumpers, bright wheel-arch moldings, dual sideview mirrors, Six Pack badging, and quad exhaust outlets.
Rallye 15″ wheels wear polished trim rings and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires measuring 235/60 up front and 255/60 out back. A spare tire on a 14″ wheel is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black leather upholstery complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes air conditioning, a center console, an overhead console, woodgrain trim, Special Edition badging, and Challenger R/T–branded floor mats. The dash pad and air-conditioning compressor are said to have been replaced under current ownership, and the radio does not work. The trunk floor was coated with spray-on bedliner material following rust repair performed under previous ownership.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a Rallye instrument cluster with woodgrain trim surrounding a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a chronometer, and a clock as well as a combination gauge for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and alternator status. The five-digit odometer shows 900 miles and has rolled over; approximately 2,500 miles have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 440ci V8 is said to have been rebuilt and installed under current ownership and features electronic ignition, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and three Holley two-barrel carburetors. The carburetors reportedly were recently replaced, and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a replacement Dana 60 limited-slip rear axle with 3.54:1 gears. A TTI 2.5″ exhaust system has been installed.
