This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 underwent a comprehensive restoration during its previous ownership and subsequently went into extended storage. In October 2017, the current seller acquired it from its reported second owner. The restoration work included installing a Whipple-supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission, and a Detroit Speed 9″ rear axle with a limited-slip differential and 3.73:1 gears. Additionally, the interior was reupholstered, the car was rewired, and Detroit Speed suspension components, JRi adjustable coilovers, a custom exhaust system, and a FAST XFI ECU and XIM ignition system were integrated.
The car sports a black exterior finish complemented by black and plaid upholstery. Notable features include power steering, a Hydroboost power brake system, a hydraulic rear handbrake, Baer six-piston disc brakes, 18″ ET LT-III wheels, an AIM Technologies digital dashboard, front and rear-facing cameras, and Shelby GT350 Recaro seats. Exterior modifications include LED lighting, 1968-style quarter panel scoops and cabin vents, and Ringbrothers door handles, hood pins, and hood hinges.
This modified Mach 1 comes with documentation, including an Elite Marti report, a copy of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine, build records, and a clean Michigan title under the seller’s LLC.
The body left the factory finished in Raven Black (A5) and is said to have been repainted under prior ownership. Details include a shaker hood scoop, a gray hood stripe, front and rear spoilers, functional brake ducting, Mach 1 graphics, dual mirrors, LED lighting, 1968-style quarter panel scoops and cabin vents, and Ringbrothers door handles, hood pins, and hood hinges. Gray powder coated 18″ ET LT-III wheels are mounted with Nitto NT01 tires measuring 275/35 up front and 315/30 out back. Braking is handled by a Hydroboost power brake system with Baer Extreme six-piston calipers over 14″ drilled and slotted rotors. A hydraulic handbrake system has been fitted and utilizes an auxiliary Baer caliper on each rear rotor.
The Shelby GT 350-sourced Recaro bucket seats are trimmed in black cloth with plaid inserts and are joined by matching door panels. A Quick 4 transmission controller and an AIM data system are mounted in front of the passenger, and aluminum pedals and footrests have been installed.
The leather-wrapped Grant steering wheel has a red centering stripe and frames an AIM Technologies digital dashboard flanked by Classic Instruments auxiliary gauges. The steering wheel cover is scratched. The digital odometer indicates 2k miles, which represents mileage since refurbishment completion. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.0-liter Coyote V8 was reportedly built by Roush Racing and installed in 2018. Equipment includes a Whipple supercharger with an integrated intercooler as well as a FAST XFI ECU and XIM ignition system, a Ford Racing throttle body and tensioner, a remote oil filter system, Roush valve covers, Aeromotive Dual Phantom fuel system components, and fabricated tubular exhaust headers. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission and a Detroit Speed 9″ rear axle with a limited-slip differential and 3.73:1 gears. The transmission was built under current ownership and utilizes a Reid racing case and custom bellhousing. A ceramic-coated dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers has been installed.
The Elite Marti report details the original colors and equipment and lists a February 24, 1969 build date.
The car was featured on the cover of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine in August 2020, and a copy will accompany the sale. Modification records detailing over $70k of parts are displayed in the gallery.
