This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was acquired by the seller’s brother-in-law in July 2020, and subsequent work involved repainting the body in red with white stripes as well as installation of a replacement 289ci V8 linked with a C4 three-speed automatic transmission. The car is also equipped with a Shelby-style fiberglass hood, rear quarter louvers, Magnum 500-style 15″ wheels, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, Cobra-branded valve covers, and a stainless-steel dual exhaust system as well as Vintage Air climate control, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Bluetooth-capable Alpine stereo, Alphasonik speakers, and a center console with cupholders. This Mustang fastback is now offered on behalf of the owner with refurbishment records and a clean California title.
Finished from the factory in Twilight Turquoise (5), the car was repainted in red with white over-the-top stripes and GT350 rocker stripes in 2020. Exterior details include a Shelby-style fiberglass hood, rear sail-panel louvers, and dual tapered exhaust finishers exiting through the rear valance. Bubbling paint is noted on the passenger side of the roof.
Magnum 500-style 15″ wheels are mounted with Firestone Wide Oval white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes Vintage Air climate control, a Bluetooth-capable Alpine stereo, Alphasonik speakers, and an aftermarket center console with cupholders.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel wears a Cobra center cap and fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 289ci V8 was installed in place of the factory K-code engine under current ownership, and it is equipped with Cobra-branded valve covers. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a C4 three-speed automatic transmission that is said to have been serviced in preparation for the sale. The car is equipped with a dual exhaust system that was installed in 2022.
