Neglected Molly Gets Second Chance at Life
Buying a new home is an exciting adventure, but one couple in Fairhope, Alabama got more than they bargained for when they discovered a 10-year-old Pitbull named Molly abandoned and chained to a tree in the backyard.
The previous owners, who had owned Molly since she was a puppy, had simply left her behind when they moved out, opting to keep items like a beehive and tractor instead of their loyal companion. “They just didn’t want her,” said new homeowner April Parker. “They wanted their beehive and tractor, but not her or the cat.”
New Homeowners Welcome Molly into Their Family
When April and her husband JC arrived at their new home, they were heartbroken to find Molly lying sadly in the middle of the yard, still tethered to the tree. But as soon as they set her free, the grateful pup began wagging her tail and following them around, clearly terrified of being abandoned again.
“We couldn’t believe someone would treat her like property,” April wrote on TikTok. “But, she’s better off. She’s gonna have a great life!!! We love her!! Their loss, our gain!!”
The couple, who already had two rescue dogs and two cats, quickly welcomed Molly into their animal-loving family. It took some time for the pets to adjust, but soon they were the best of friends, with one of the cats even comforting Molly during a scary thunderstorm.
Sadly, a veterinary checkup revealed that Molly had heartworm and heart disease, likely from her time neglected outdoors. But the family is committed to getting her the full medical treatment she needs to help her feel better and slow the progression of her condition.
Molly’s Story Touches Millions
The video of Molly’s rescue went viral on TikTok, generating over 32.5 million views and an outpouring of support from animal lovers eager to help the sweet pup. Molly has since been showered with gifts, and her new family says they feel “so blessed” by the kindness of strangers.
“We really love how many people love Molly,” April wrote. “When you watch the news you feel like the world is full of bad people. I have found the world is actually full of amazing people and I feel so blessed by so many of them.”
Indeed, Molly has found the loving home she deserves, where she can enjoy car rides, playtime with her new siblings, and all the snuggles her heart desires. After her heartbreaking abandonment, this resilient Pitbull is finally getting the happy ending she’s always deserved.
