June 4, 2024 – Nestled along the banks of the Elbe River in Germany, Tivoli Gardens has long been hailed as the world’s oldest operating amusement park. Since its opening in 1843, this iconic destination has enchanted visitors with its whimsical rides, beautiful gardens, and vibrant cultural events. But now, the park is welcoming a new group of guests – our four-legged friends.

Tivoli Gardens has officially become the first major amusement park to open its doors to canine companions

In a move that has delighted dog owners across Europe, Tivoli Gardens has officially become the first major amusement park to open its doors to canine companions. Visitors can now explore the park’s 21 hectares of fairground attractions, restaurants, and lush green spaces alongside their beloved pups.

“We wanted to create a truly inclusive experience where families of all kinds could come and make memories together,” said park director Bettina Reventlow. “Dogs are such an integral part of so many households, and we couldn’t imagine excluding them from the magic of Tivoli.”

To ensure the comfort and safety of both human and canine guests, Tivoli Gardens has implemented a series of thoughtful policies and amenities. Dog owners must register their pets at the entrance and keep them leashed at all times, but they are welcome to bring their own food and water bowls. Throughout the park, there are designated relief areas, cooling stations, and even a “Dog Café” serving up gourmet treats.

The rides themselves have also been modified to accommodate our four-legged friends. Roller coasters and other high-speed attractions are off-limits, but gentler rides like the famous Ferris wheel and classic carousel now feature special dog-friendly cars.

Beyond the rides, Tivoli Gardens has developed a robust schedule of dog-centric programming to stimulate and entertain its new furry visitors. Agility courses, obedience demonstrations, and even doggie dance parties are just a few of the exciting activities on offer.

“We wanted to create a true canine oasis where dogs could not only enjoy the park alongside their families, but also engage in enriching experiences tailored just for them,” explained Reventlow.

Positive feedback from customers

The response from both human and canine guests has been overwhelmingly positive. Dog owners have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share one of Europe’s most iconic destinations with their beloved companions, while the pups themselves seem to be reveling in all the new sights, sounds, and smells.

“Watching the dogs explore Tivoli with such pure excitement is truly heartwarming,” said one visitor. “It’s clear that this is going to be a game-changer for dog-friendly travel.”

As the world’s oldest amusement park continues to evolve and adapt to the needs of modern guests, this new dog-friendly initiative stands as a testament to Tivoli Gardens’ enduring commitment to inclusivity, community, and making unforgettable memories. For dog lovers and thrill-seekers alike, this historic destination has never been more inviting.
