In the heart of Fowler, California, a remarkable story of maternal devotion unfolded. A stray dog, later named Betty Boop, exhibited extraordinary determination to care for her ten puppies. Despite facing hunger and exhaustion, she embarked on daily treks of up to three kilometers to find sustenance for her offspring.

Krystle Woodward, founder of Pinky Paws ResQ, was alerted to Betty Boop’s plight. Moved by the dog’s unwavering love for her puppies, she initiated a rescue mission.

A Race Against Time

The clock was ticking for Betty Boop and her puppies. With each passing day, their survival was becoming increasingly precarious. Krystle’s team worked tirelessly to locate the abandoned litter.

After days of searching, the puppies were found in the basement of an abandoned house. Malnourished but alive, they clung to each other for warmth and comfort. The mother, upon hearing their cries, made a desperate attempt to escape, driven by her maternal instincts.

A New Beginning

Betty Boop and her puppies were brought to safety, receiving immediate medical care. The mother, frail and exhausted, was nursed back to health. The puppies, once frail and vulnerable, began to thrive under the care of the rescue team.

Krystle Woodward and her team named the puppies Amber, Citrine, Copper, Jade, Jasper, Onyx, Opal, Pearl, Rubyloo, and Sage. Their journey from despair to hope was a testament to the power of human compassion and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her children.

As the puppies grew stronger, plans were made for their adoption. Betty Boop, having fulfilled her maternal duties, would be spayed to prevent future pregnancies.
