Doctor drags a dog behind his Hyundai Creta on the road; Detained

A viral video of a horrific accident is going viral on social media. A video from Jodhpur, Rajasthan shows a stray dog tied to a Hyundai Creta. The video shows the dog struggling to keep up with the car and being dragged through the streets.

After the video went viral, the person driving the car was identified as a doctor at a local hospital in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The doctor tied the stray dog to his car and roamed the city streets as punishment.

The incident sparked outrage among social media users. The dog kept squirming around and you could see that a piece of cloth was tied around the dog’s mouth to keep him from howling. The video was taken by a passenger who was riding a bicycle. The video also shows a motorcyclist forcing the doctor to stop his car.

The car driver has been identify as Dr. Rajneesh Glwar, a renowned plastic surgeon from the government hospital. Police arrested the doctor and searched him under section 428 of the Indian Penal Code (kill, poison, maim or incapacitate an animal or animals) and section 11 of the Prevention Act 1960 animal cruelty. Cruelty to any animal becomes a punishable offense under the law.

The dog suffered multiple injuries, according to the Dog Home Foundation in Jodhpur. The NGO told reporters there were several broken legs and bruised necks. The trustee of the foundation also said the police were reluctant to cooperate.

Similar cases have already happened

We have already seen similar cases in Kerala. A man has been arrested in Kerala after tying a stray dog to a car and dragging it for 2km. Kerala Police registered a motoring case against the owner of the car, who was also driving the vehicle. Police have now arrested the driver of the vehicle and registered a case against Yusuf at Puthanvelikkara Konnamhouse, where the vehicle was seen dragging the dog. The driver was booked under Sections 428 and 429 of the Indian Penal Code and the Cruelty to Animals Act.

There have been many such cases in the past where stray dogs have been attacked. In many cases, puppies have also been injured from similar attacks. However, due to the absence of strict laws against such crimes, all offenders were released after receiving a light sentence and a fine.

If you hear of such animal abuse, speak up and always report the perpetrator. This ensures that people with such intentions don’t dare harm animals enough that they can’t even speak for themselves.
