Heartbreaking photo of dumped dog chained to a pole in ‘freezing’ weather sparks fury

A heartbreaking photo of dumped dog chained to a pole in the ‘freezing’ weather has left dog owners furious and “angry”.

People have taken to slam whoever left their pup in the 1C temperatures as “cruel”, saying they hope “the poor thing will find a loving home that he deserves”.

The “terrified” animal was found tied to a pole outside a West Midlands fire station, with only a water bottle in front of him.

Animal Rescue Officer, Cara, posted the photo of the skinny and worried looking pup on social media, standing outside of the Woodgate Valley Fire Station in Quinton, Birmingham.

She said it was the second abandoned dog brought into the RSPCA that night, report Birmingham Live.

Alongside posting the heartbreaking image, her she wrote: “Happy New Year again. Second dog of the night abandoned outside Woodgate Valley Fire Station.

“It’s 1C outside. Absolutely freezing weather. Special thanks toWest Midlands Policefor their assistance.

“Puppy was absolutely terrified of everything. Makes me so angry!”

Thankfully, the RSPCA took him in and the dog is now in a kennel.

However, many pet owners have taken to social media to slam whoever left their pet out in such cold conditions.

One person wrote on Twitter : “Omg, the poor furbaby…… if they don’t want him take him to the dogs home. There’s no need to dump them!! It’s cruel….Hopefully the poor thing will find a loving home that he deserves. Thank you all so much for showing him kindness.”

Another said: “Poor thing looks so scared. How can people do this.”

While a third put: “This makes me angry too! I’ll never understand how humans can treat animals this way.”

And one more person wrote: “Vile people. I’m so sorry to this darling dog. I’m so sorry this had to happen!!!”

Woodgate Valley Fire Station have also gone on to praise the swift actions of the animal charity, writing on Twitter: “We were happy to supply the pooch with treats and water and the humans with tea and cake until doggy got the support he needed and whisked off to a warm and safe place. Bless him.

“Hope he is doing ok. Well done to all involved.”

Cara later confirmed that the dog was fine, and said: “The dog is okay! He has eaten some food and is in a nice, warm kennel now. He was absolutely petrified and it was a real upset to see him so distressed.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure what breed he is. Possibly a mastiff cross.”
