A Dog Born Deaf was Abandoned by its Owner after being Stung by Thousands of Bees

A deaf dog who was abandoned after being stung more than 1000 times by a swarm of bees has finally found a forever home.

The pooch, nicknamed Stinger by his rescuers, was dumped at a dog shelter after being attacked by the insects in September.

He was left with life-threatening infections and needed urgent medical care.

Carri Shipaila, who runs rescue centre LuvnPupz, in Greater Grand Rapids, MI, USA, has fought to bring the pup back to full health – and he is now unrecognisable.

Now 14-month-old, Stinger, who limped out of a swarm of bees covered in life-threatening blisters- has found a loving foster home.

Carri said: “An emergency vet clinic called me after speaking with animal control realising the shelter would have to euthanize as they couldn’t treat a dog in his condition.

“Not to mention keeping him alive would expose him to many illnesses caused by his condition.

“The minute I got the phone call about Stinger I jumped in the car and drove over an hour to the clinic, when I saw him, I knew he needed us, no matter the costs.”

The once painful image of Stinger is no more as dedicated care from LuvnPupz has brought back his glossy white fur coat.

The home-based animal shelter, has helped over 700 animals since 2014 and Stinger’s remarkable turnaround is just one of the more severe examples of their work.

Carri said: “Stinger is the name I gave him, he’s deaf so honestly I don’t think he cares that’s what I named him.

“The shelter required me to hold Stinger for 30 days so the owner could have opportunity to claim him and any costs I incurred during that time I could not be reimbursed for.

“The owners refused to claim him or surrender him to me and I refused to allow him to suffer.

“Stinger has been treated for the stings, the allergic reaction to a medication given before we got him, a secondary skin infection and sarcoptic mange.

“The trauma from that resulted in Pemphigus, an autoimmune disease, which is lifelong and expensive to treat.

“He’s the epitome of the breed, he’s an amazing loving sweet funny pitbull without a mean bone in his body.

“He is not adoptable due costs of care for life, he’ll stay in his foster home under our care and treatment for the rest of his life.”

LuvnPupz help young dogs in need throughout Greater Grand Rapids, MI, USA who have been abandoned and mistreated like Stinger.

“I opened Luvnpupz after losing one of my own rescued dogs at an early age due to cancer.
